English Grammar : SUBJECT-PREDICATE


Subject-Predicate 

The Predicate can also start with : has, have, had, was, were

Examples:

1. We were going to the bus stop.

Subject = we
predicate = were going to the bus stop.
................................................................
2. Lara has brown eyes.

Subject = Lara
Predicate = has brown eyes
................................................................
3. The children had slept.

Subject = The children
Predicate = had slept

................................................................
Or it can also directly start with a verb or adverb.

Examples:

1. Dad bought for me a nice shirt.

Here: (bought is past tens of the verb 'buy')

Subject = Dad
Predicate = bought for me a nice shirt
................................................................
2. The PT Teacher punished them for misbehaviour.

Here: (punished is past tense of the verb 'punish')

Subject = The PT Teacher
Predicate = punished them for misbehaviour.

...............................................................
3. Grandpa always tells us stories. 

Here: ('always' is adverb)

Subject = Grandpa
Predicate = always tells us stories.
